Walgreens customers who purchased prescription drugs through the pharmacy may be eligible for compensation as part of a $100 million proposed class action settlement.
The settlement, which has not yet been finalized, stems from allegations that Walgreens charged some insured customers higher prices for generic drugs compared to members of the now-defunct Walgreens Prescription Savings Club (PSC). Walgreens, while agreeing to the settlement, denies any wrongdoing.
Settlement Background
The lawsuit accused Walgreens of overcharging insured customers for generic medications while offering lower prices to PSC members, who paid an annual $20 fee for access to discounts on thousands of prescription drugs. The PSC program automatically substituted generics for brand-name drugs whenever available. Walgreens officially ended the program on August 31, 2024.
In response to the allegations, Walgreens stated:
“We admit no liability and believe these claims never had any merit. We launched the Prescription Savings Club more than 15 years ago to provide equitable access to lower-cost medications for the uninsured and underinsured. This resolution allows us to focus on our turnaround strategy that will benefit our patients, customers, team members, and shareholders.”

Eligibility for Settlement Payments
According to court records and the settlement’s official website, savingsclubsettlement.com, customers may qualify for compensation if they:
- Purchased one or more prescription drugs from Walgreens.
- Used insurance benefits to fill those prescriptions.
- Made these purchases between January 1, 2007, and November 18, 2024.
Claim Details and Submission
The exact payment amounts will depend on how much eligible customers paid for prescription drugs and the total number of claims submitted. The deadline to submit claims is April 17, 2025.

Payment Timeline
The next settlement hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2025. Payments to eligible claimants will likely be issued after that date, pending the finalization of the settlement.
