Several local schools are experiencing delays or closures on Wednesday due to bitterly cold wind chills sweeping across the area. Additionally, FOX 8 meteorologists are monitoring lake-effect snow during the morning commute, with some areas expected to receive 1-3 inches of additional snowfall by midday.
The majority of affected schools are located in the southern rural portions of the FOX 8 viewing area, including Carroll, Holmes, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.
As previously reported by FOX 8, Ohio does not have a specific temperature threshold for canceling school due to cold weather. Instead, the decision is made individually by each district’s superintendent.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for several counties:
- Ashtabula (Inland and Lakeshore) and Lake counties are under the advisory until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
- Geauga County is under the advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
