Nashville‘s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, drew a record crowd of over 220,000 people to downtown Music City to welcome 2025. Headlined by artists like Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, and Kane Brown, the event included a midnight fireworks display and the signature music note drop at Bicentennial Park, located near the Tennessee State Capitol. This massive celebration was just a few blocks away from the lively bars and honky-tonks of Broadway.
However, it seems that not everyone on Broadway was aware that they wouldn’t be able to see the fireworks from the rooftops of the bars. For those who haven’t been to Nashville on New Year’s Eve, it’s no secret that the event is pricey. Bars that typically don’t charge cover fees can cost hundreds of dollars for exclusive New Year’s Eve parties, with packed rooftop bars offering views of the bustling street below, not the fireworks.
In a TikTok shared by Nashville photographer Haley Hays, a crowd at Luke Bryan‘s rooftop bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge, eagerly counted down to midnight, only to find themselves disappointed when they realized they couldn’t see the fireworks. Hays reported that a group of visitors from Montana, who spent $150 to enjoy the party at Luke’s, were left confused and frustrated when the fireworks weren’t visible from the rooftop. The group was apparently unaware that the fireworks display took place at Bicentennial Park, not on Broadway.
It’s important to note that the fireworks have been a part of the Bicentennial Park celebration since 2018, and the event is heavily advertised, including nationally on CBS. This isn’t a last-minute change, but simply part of Nashville’s established tradition. While it’s understandable that visitors unfamiliar with Nashville might not know the layout, a quick glance at a map would show that Broadway is not the best vantage point for the fireworks.
This situation recalls a similar incident from a few years ago when a number of bachelorette parties arrived in Nashville, only to be surprised by the NFL Draft taking place in the city at the same time.
Despite missing out on the fireworks, I hope the partygoers on Broadway had a fun time ringing in the New Year. However, personally, the thought of waiting in long lines and spending hundreds just to navigate a crowd sounds like a nightmare, and even fireworks wouldn’t make it worth it for me!
