Florida’s Atlantic coastline is facing a moderate rip current risk on Friday, and beachgoers are urged to stay cautious as strong currents and chilly surf conditions persist. The National Weather Service warns that swimmers should remain in designated areas and follow the guidance of lifeguards.

Temperatures along the Treasure Coast will be in the mid-to-upper 60s, cooler than usual for mid-January. Scattered showers are expected to develop later in the afternoon, particularly affecting areas from Okeechobee to Melbourne.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Friday, emphasizing the life-threatening potential of rip currents. As winds increase through the evening, boating conditions are likely to become hazardous offshore. Lifeguards are advising swimmers to stay within safe zones, avoid swimming alone, and always pay attention to posted warnings.

However, a cold front is on its way, bringing cooler weather with Sunday’s high expected to dip into the low 60s, accompanied by a chance of storms after 1 p.m. Winds may gust up to 20 mph.
